Jennifer Modafferi - Teacher - Parent & Tot program

Jen joins Playtots this year as the teacher for the Parent and Tot class. She participated in the program with all three of her children and looks forward to switching roles and leading the class this year.  Jen has an undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master’s degree in Special Education, with CT teaching certification in both areas.  She taught for eight years prior to starting her family and is excited to join the Playtots Preschool staff.

Leslie Kelly - Head Teacher, 2's Class

Leslie joins Playtots with 4 years of experience as a preschool teacher working with children ages 2-6 years old. Curriculum development and the coordination of school events were among her many responsibilities at her former preschool. Leslie resides in Easton and is an active volunteer in the community. She is a mother of 4 kids ages 6-13. Leslie’s education consists of a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education.

Christine Gregor - Assistant Teacher, 2's class

Christine has lived in Easton since 2007 with her husband Bruce and 3 children, who attend Easton Schools. She has been actively involved as a room parent and worked to raise money for the Easton PTA, Easton Little League and Aspetuck Wildcats Football Association for the past several years.  She was a substitute teacher at Samuel Staples Elementary for 2 years working with children from preschool through grade 6.

Christine joined Playtots Preschool in 2014 as a Teacher’s Aide in the 2s classroom and a substitute teacher in the 2s, 3s, and 4s. Christine is looking forward to beginning another year at Playtots!

 

Leslie Forte - Assistant Teacher, 2's class

Leslie has lived in Monroe for the past 16 years with husband Robert. They have 2 sons who attend Monroe Public schools, where she is an active member of the PTO and volunteers in the classroom. Leslie has taught Sunday School for 7 years and sits on her church council.

She has developed and taught many nutrition classes and programs for children, having a background in Nutrition and a degree in Clinical Dietetics from the University of Connecticut. Leslie joined Playtots Preschool in 2013 and has worked in the Almost 2s class, 4s class, and in the “Fabulous Fridays” program.

Ellen Waugh - Lead Teacher, 3's Class

Ellen is a co-teacher for the morning 3′s class. She was born in Houston, TX and after living in NC and OH, has called Fairfield County home for over 30 years. Ellen has lived in Easton since 2000 with her husband Steve, and two children. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and business with a minor in computer science from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. When her children were born, she left the business world and started volunteering in many capacities involving children. She has taught Sunday School and VBS at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, been a soccer coach, travel basketball manager, travel soccer manager, girl scout leader, room mom, PTA chairperson, and junior choir director. She is also on the board of the Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival and has chaired the Dogwood Festival. She is currently a member of the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC). She is thrilled to start a new school year at Playtots.

Christine McNamara - Co-Teacher, 3's Class

Christine is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education, and a graduate of the University of New England, earning a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Literacy (K-12). She has been a teacher in the public school systems since 2004 and truly enjoys working with children to achieve academic success. She is eager to join the Playtots team this year and looks forward to working with the 3’s class. She is honored to be a part of such a wonderful program. She currently lives in Trumbull with her husband and three children.

 

Ellen Geaney - Head Teacher, 4's class

Ellen is thrilled to be a part of the team at Playtots Preschool. She grew up in New Jersey and then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Rowan University in Elementary Education. After graduating, she moved to Connecticut where she earned a Masters of Arts degree at Fairfield University in Special Education. Ellen holds a CT State Teaching certification and is eligible to teach students Pre-K-Grade 8. Ellen began her career working with special needs children at Eagle Hill School in Greenwich. She then taught Kindergarten at Hurlbutt Elementary in Weston, CT. She spent over 10 years teaching before starting her family. Ellen moved to Easton in 2007 with her husband Patrick, stepson Sean (21) and daughters Jenna (10) and Tess (7). Ellen enjoys art and anything crafty, scrapbooking and gardening. Ellen has an innate love for young children and animals. Having the opportunity to incorporate all that she knows and loves while working with young children will be an honor and a blessing! She looks forward to meeting all her new students and parents!

Carole Lisi - Co-Teacher, 4's Class

Carole moved extensively as a young person but has happily been in CT since 1984 when she came to attend Southern CT State Univ.  Married in 1988, she and her husband Frank moved to Easton where they raised their 3 children~ Matt, Katie and Caroline.  Carole volunteered in many capacities when her children were younger, including PTA Vice-President, Girl Scout leader, religious education teacher and AYSO coach, just to name a few!  When her children all became of school age she began 8 years of substitute teaching at Helen Keller Middle School, which led to several full-time extended positions before coming to Playtots. Carole currently volunteers for Hospice, The Jewish Home for the Elderly and Mercy Learning Center, as well as coordinating events/birthday parties for the Easton Community Center. One of her great joys has been teaching the 4 year olds since 2008 and she looks forward to many more years!

Joelle Johnston - Co-Teacher, Pre-K

Joelle Johnston has lived in Easton since 2008. She and her husband Todd have four children – a daughter and a son at Helen Keller Middle School and two sons at Samuel Staples Elementary, both of whom are graduates of Playtots Preschool.

Joelle joined Playtots Preschool in 2013 as a Teacher’s Assistant in the 4s classroom and a substitute teacher in the 2s, 3s, and 4s. Currently Joelle is a Teacher in the Full Day 4s class. She is the President of Friends of the Easton Library and coordinates it’s popular “Cow Chip Raffle” fundraiser, Storybook Parade, Lego classes and book sales. Joelle is thrilled to begin another year at Playtots and is looking forward to working with these wonderful young children.

Stacey Thomas - Co-Teacher, Pre-K

Stacey has lived in Easton since 2005 with her husband Chris and three sons, who attend Easton schools. Two of her boys are Playtots Preschool graduates! Stacey holds a CT state teaching certification in grades Pre K-3 and is duel certified in Special Education. She comes to Playtots with a wealth of experience, including teaching preschool in Bridgeport and Fairfield and teaching Kindergarten and first grade in the Greenwich Public Schools.  Stacey was the Art Teacher at Playtots Preschool and was a Kindergarten Paraprofessional at Samuel Staples Elementary School. Most recently, Stacey held long term substitute positions in Pre K and first grade at Samuel Staples. Stacey is looking forward to meeting all of her new students and parents at Playtots!

Corinne Skrtich - Teacher's Aide, 4's Class

Corinne has been on the Playtots Preschool staff since 2009 and has worked in all of classrooms as an Assistant Teacher and Aide. She was born in Norwalk, Connecticut and attended the University of Connecticut and Norwalk Community College. She majored in Early Childhood Education. She taught infants through four year olds at various nursery schools. She has lived in Easton for 13 years and is a mother of five. For the past nine years she has taught religious education. She has been an active member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Company, and is certified in Fire and Life Safety Education. She teaches Fire Safety to children from preschool through fifth grade. She is very excited to be teaching in the Playtots program at the Easton Community Center.

Heather Scully - Teacher's Aide, 4's Class

Heather has lived in Easton since 2007 and has been assisting at Playtots since 2009. She studied Child Development at Norwalk Community College. She grew up in Los Angeles and worked in the Recording Industry for over 20 years. She has two sons and is active in their schools and with their various local sports teams. Heather enjoys working with the children at Playtots and participating in their development and growth.

Lucy Silkoff - Teacher's Aide

Lucy has worked at the ECC for the last six years. Most recently she has been an assistant in the Lunch Bunch program. She also works at the ECC’s after-school program at Holland Hill Elementary and as a counselor in the Wanderers camp (for 3-5 year olds) during the summer months. Lucy grew up in Brazil and came to the US as a nanny working with several families for 6 years. Lucy will be helping out in all of our classrooms next year.

Carrie June - Art Specialist

Carrie grew up in Cos Cob, CT. She moved to Easton in 2006 with her husband to be closer to his business, yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a bigger town. Their two daughters started at the Easton Community Center’s Parent & Tot class and continued their preschool experience through the 4s program. Currently, Carrie is teaching Art for the 4s classes.  She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. After college she began her teaching career at Greenwich Catholic School where she taught Kindergarten for four years. During that time she earned a Master of Arts degree at Sacred Heart University in Elementary Education.  Carrie moved on to teach Kindergarten and first grade for three years before leaving to become a stay at home mom.  Carrie holds a CT state teaching certification for grades K – 8.
